Butha-Buthe: The Lesotho Chapter of Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA Lesotho) has, on Saturday December 21, 2025, held a capacity-building workshop for three community radio stations in Butha-Buthe.

Motjoli FM, which operates in Thaba-Tseka, and Dope FM, from Roma, were brought together to join Moeling Multimedia in Buthe-Buthe for the training session.

The workshop focused on good governance practice and conduct, hence the three radio stations were represented mainly by their members of boards and senior executive staff (stations managers).

The workshop, praised by some participants as an eye opener, follows a similar session that was held for the other three community radio stations based in the southern stream of the country, namely Mafeteng Community Radio (MCR), Souru FM (in Qacha’s Nek) and Mose-ho-Seaka FM (Quthing), on December 7. The trio had gathered in a similar fashion for their session in Quthing.

With support of the US Embassy – Maseru, under the the Public Diplomacy Grants, MISA Lesotho is pursuing a project named: Bridging the information gap in areas where mainstream media does not reach, through capacity-building of community radio, to regularly provide reliable and credible information to citizens and carry out civic education on the development agenda of the country.

Through this project, MISA Lesotho aims at closing a serious information lacuna obtaining in the rural areas, regarding regular and constant provision of reliable and credible information on the development agenda of Lesotho.

According to the National Director of MISA Lesotho, the project is aimed at building the capacity of community radio stations, which are found in six of the 10 districts of Lesotho, “so that they are able to contribute effectively to the development in the communities in which they operate,” Ntsukunyane said.

The project, he added, is intended to focus on five key areas of capacity building – internal corporate governance, conflict management, programme sustainability and financial management and sustainability.
